The 80s saw vapid consumerism.

The highest grossing movie of the 80s was ET, followed by Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in second.

The relationship between the USSR and the US was tense. The idea of nuclear war became a reality due to the arms race, in which each country produced large amount of weapons such as missiles and nuclear bombs.

Characters

Mike is a blank state protagonist, is loyal, and likes to play Dungeons and Dragons.

Will is a nerd, is loyal, is foreshadowed to be gay, and is missing.

Joyce is Wills mum, is protective, is working class, is resourceful, and is determined.

Eleven has telekinesis (a story promise), is non-verbal, has come from a testing facility, and is resourceful.

Hopper is a police officer, has lost his daughter, and has substance abuse.

Dustin is comic relief, and illustrates a theme of friendship.

Lucas illustrates a theme of friendship, and is the straight man.

Nancy is Mikes sister, is spoilt, is middle-class, is smart, and is dating Steve.

Johnathan is Wills brother, is a social outcast, and works whilst in school.

Steve is a jock, is arrogant, and is in love with Nancy.

Media Blog Introduction

Introduction My name is Ben Metcalfe, and I am a media student. This blog will document my work and what I get up to in Media Studies. My favorite film is Hot Fuzz, because it tells a funny story, and is not without excitement, action, and courage. A few actors in this move also take the lead role in another film, "Shaun Of The Dead". This is also a great movie, and maybe my #2. My favorite series is Friday Night Dinner, because it is extremely funny, and features a lot of great actors. Each episode brings something new and original to the table, generating a fantastic viewing experience. My favorite music video is Crying Lightning on YouTube, by Arctic Monkeys; this is because I love Arctic Monkeys and the video includes many cool effects. I am most likely to read the Times newspaper, as it is the most trustworthy to me.
