The idea that repeated and prolonged messages in media products allows audiences to construct their own views and beliefs around them. The more people watch TV, the more likely they are to have a negative view of the world - this is known as 'mean world syndrome'. This is most of the messages shown on TV are negative, such as global conflicts, tariffs, etc. People that consume a lot of TV content are likely to have similar views - mainstreaming.
